BSSW is a subsidiary of Grand Traverse Economic Development and is currently seeking to fill an open position with a qualified individual.

Welder
Full-Time; $16-$19/hour depending on experience

Responsibilities include:

• Can read and understand prints.
• Actively welds and spends the majority of the time in welding processes.
• Applies a basic understanding in the operation and maintenance of machines and tools utilized in the manufacturing environment. Knows primary position/job well and understands customer/supplier relationships.
• Able to use calipers, height gauges, tape measure and weld gauges to measure parts to verify conformance to specifications.
• Produces work that conforms to customer specifications and customer standards understanding the importance of doing it right the first time before passing it on. Refers to blueprints, technical drawings, and other written directions.
• Able to promptly produce quality work that satisfies customer requirements.
• Understands inches, metric, fractions, and decimal places.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands to fingers in handling, grasping, or feeling objects, tools, or controls for an extended period of time. The employee must be able to occasionally work above the shoulder height and frequently have neck flexion and extension. The employee must occasionally lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

Required Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years’ related experience or training in welding
• Or equivalent combination of both
