We are currently seeking Laser/Plasma Operators 1st & 2nd Shift for our Charlevoix, MI location.

1st Shift: M-Th 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Overtime Fri/Sat 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
2nd Shift: M-Th 4:15 p.m. - 2:45 a.m. Overtime Fri/Sat 4:15 p.m. - 12:45 a.m.

Full-time

$16 - $19 per hour, based upon experience

SUMMARY

The Laser/Plasma Operator performs the duties and tasks listed below to complete production jobs on equipment per operation process sheets. This Job Description is not meant to be all-inclusive, and requirements may change according to the demands of this position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for operating, loading, and unloading material parts, setting parameters, deburring, and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Required to check length, width, and thickness dimensions of plates prior to cutting parts.
  • Required to verify parts using quality system pre-check and first part approval guidelines.
  • Responsible to safely move and handle large, heavy metal sheet, plate, and parts using proper equipment, including overhead crane and forklift.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and to perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Locates materials for job, verify that gauge and type of material matches job.
  • Set up and organizes material in an efficient manner.
  • Loads material on table for laser/plasma cutting.
  • Loads program into computer and set parameters.
  • Burns material per nest.
  • Checks parts- matches drawings, length, width, and hole size if applicable.
  • Organizes and keeps track of stock and drop material.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Forklift license and overhead crane permits (company trained)
  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Good communication skills

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one-year prior experience in plasma/laser manufacturing operations
  • Experience with other sheet metal and plate fabrication preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis
  • The employee frequently is required to use hand and fingers in handling, grasping, or feeling objects, tools, or controls for an extended period of time
  • Standing, all day, occasional bending and reaching
