We are currently seeking a Welder - CWI for our Charlevoix, MI location.
1st Shift: M-Th 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Overtime Fri/Sat 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
2nd Shift: M-Th 4:15 p.m. - 2:45 a.m. Overtime Fri/Sat 4:15 p.m. - 12:45 a.m.
This position is non-exempt (hourly) with a 2nd shift per diem rate for 2nd shift worked hours.
Full-time
$22 - $27 per hour, based upon experience
IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL:
- Weld metal components using MIL-STD specifications for armor grade steel as well as other materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum
- Handle qualification records, oversee non-destructive testing, make sure proper materials are available during tests
- Review Welding Procedure Specifications, building and welding plans, equipment calibration, and welding materials
- Inspect base and consumable materials. Ensure the correct cutting methods, joint positions, welder settings and clamp placement and alignment are correct
- Monitor the Welding Process to ensure that everything proceeds smoothly and that everyone continues to follow the expectations of the standard.
- Conduct inspections and identify and supervise repairs.
- Weld Military Components using MIL-STD Specifications for Armor Grade Steel
- Weld various customer specific components utilizing a variety of metal alloys
- Use calipers, height gauges, tape measure, and weld gauges to measure parts to verify conformance to specifications
- Produce work that conforms to customer specifications and customer standard
- Refers to blueprints, technical drawings, and other written directions
- Utilizes Weld Process Specifications (WPS) for determining weld set up/process
ADDITIONALLY, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO HAVE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years prior experience or training in welding required.
- CWI Certification required
- Certification in GMAW and GTAW required
- Knowledge of basic welding safety practices
- Welding experience, MIL-STD Certifications for Armor Grade Steel preferred
- Good math skills, including an understanding of inches, metrics, fractions to three decimal places
